Dmitri Sytyi, a prominent figure in the Wagner mercenary group in Central African Republic, was the victim of a booby-trapped package on Friday, according to the press service of the Russian Embassy as reported by the official press agency TASS. The 33-year-old man, General Manager of the Russian House, a cultural center located in the center of the capital Bangui, “received an anonymous package on Friday, opened it, and an explosion occurred,” the statement said. The attack has reignited tensions between Paris and Moscow. While the founder of the Wagner group has accused France of being “a state supporter of terrorism,” the French foreign minister has rejected the “fanciful” accusations.
