The recent visit by Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan to Iraq has reaffirmed the Kingdom’s commitment to preserving stability and sovereignty in the country. The Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council will develop a joint action plan, and the two countries will cooperate in OPEC and OPEC+ to keep global oil markets stable. The Saudi-Iraqi relationship carries a lot of historical significance and is of great importance to the region. Prince Faisal’s visit further reinforced the commitment of both countries to restore Iraq’s status as a cradle of civilization, science and knowledge. During his visit, the minister met with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein to discuss bilateral cooperation and Iraq’s development. The Kingdom will support Iraq’s economic and developmental progress, and collaborate with the Iraqi government to promote investment opportunities in renewable and clean energy, water desalination and agriculture. In addition, the third edition of the Baghdad Conference for Cooperation and Partnership is scheduled to take place in Egypt next year. The conference will be a platform to discuss bilateral cooperation and further strengthen ties between the two countries. The strong relationship between the Kingdom and Iraq is a sign of hope for the region and will benefit both countries in the long run. The two countries have a lot to gain from each other, and Prince Faisal’s visit has reaffirmed the commitment of the Kingdom to ensure stability and prosperity in Iraq.
